Information technology and interorganizational learning: An investigation of knowledge exploration and exploitation processes
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we study the impact of IT-enabled learning mechanisms and learning strategies on the long-term knowledge outcomes of a firm in an interorganizational setting. Consistent with prior research in this area, we use a computational simulation model to study four IT-enabled learning mechanisms: internal electronic communication networks, external communication networks, company knowledge repositories and portals, and interorganizational knowledge repositories and portals. We also explore the interactions between a firm’s internal and external learning strategies and these learning mechanisms under three different scenarios of partner size symmetry. 2015 Elsevier B.V. Information Technology and Organizational Learning: An Investigation of Exploitation and Exploration Processes
This study investigates the effects of information technology on exploration and exploitation in organizational learning. We extend an earlier computational model of organizational learning and introduce learning between individuals through three distinct mechanisms: face-to-face exchange, IT-enabled communication support, and knowledge repositories. Each of these mechanisms has a distinct effe...
متن کاملAn Improved Bat Algorithm with Grey Wolf Optimizer for Solving Continuous Optimization Problems
Metaheuristic algorithms are used to solve NP-hard optimization problems. These algorithms have two main components, i.e. exploration and exploitation, and try to strike a balance between exploration and exploitation to achieve the best possible near-optimal solution. The bat algorithm is one of the metaheuristic algorithms with poor exploration and exploitation. In this paper, exploration and ...
متن کاملInformation Technology and Organizational Learning: An Investigation of Exploration and Exploitation Processes
This study investigates the effects of information technology (IT) on exploration and exploitation in organizational learning (OL). We use qualitative evidence from previously published case studies of a single organization to extend an earlier computational model of organizational learning (March 1991) by introducing IT-enabled learning mechanisms: communication technology (e-mail), knowledge ...
متن کاملLinking unlearningwith service quality through learning processes in the Spanish banking industry☆
a r t i c l e i n f o Keywords: Relational knowledge Service firms Quality of service Banking Knowledge, like other resources, can quickly become obsolete. Thus, actors in an economy must constantly update their knowledge to keep pace with ongoing changes in their operational environment. This study explores unlearning's influence on two forms of learning (i.e., exploration and exploitation of ...
متن کاملA Monte Carlo-Based Search Strategy for Dimensionality Reduction in Performance Tuning Parameters
Redundant and irrelevant features in high dimensional data increase the complexity in underlying mathematical models. It is necessary to conduct pre-processing steps that search for the most relevant features in order to reduce the dimensionality of the data. This study made use of a meta-heuristic search approach which uses lightweight random simulations to balance between the exploitation of ...
